NEUTROPHIL LYMPHOCYTE COUNT RATIO IN INFECTION AND TROPICAL DISEASE PATIENT HOSPITALIZED AT HASAN SADIKIN GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2018
Adri Zamany Anwary, Djatnika Setiabudi, Riyadi
Background : In patients with infectious disease, various parameters or scoring systems
have been studied to establish a diagnosis, estimate prognosis, and monitor improvement of
the patients. Some studies show biomarkers can be used as a predictor of bacterial
infections, such as C-reactive protein, neutrophil counts, lymphocyte count types and
Procalcitonin.Neutrophil lymphocyte count ratio are inexpensive dan fast biomarker that can
be used in health facility with limited resources
Objective : This study aimed to describe neutrophil lymphosite count ratio in patients with
infectious disease hospitalised in Infectious dan Tropical Disease Pediatric Division Hasan
Sadikin General Hospital
Methods : Data used in this study taken from All pediatric patients hospitalized by the
Infectious and tropical diseases Child Health in RSUP dr. Hasan Sadikin in 2018. Data
collected from medical record and inpatient registry of Infectious And Tropical Disease
division. The patient sorted based on the diagnosis and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio counted
from lab result during the admission.
Result : From 117 patient, there are 80 patient diagnosed with dengue infection, neutrophil
lymphosite count ratio mean are 0.79 with the highest ratio is 2.91.Patient with typhoid
infection amount to 13 patients with neutrophil lymphosite count ratio mean are 3.65 and the
highest ratio is 9.67. The rest are 14 patient diagnosed with bacterial meningitis with
neutrophil lymphosite count ratio mean are 4.03 with the highest ratio are 13.14.
Conclusion : Neutrophil to lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR) or neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio
value is a calculation of the ratio of absolute neutrophil counts to absolute lymphocyte counts
that can be used as a predictor or inflammatory marker. Patient with bacterial infection or
with suspicion of severe infection has higher ratio. Knowing the description of neutrophil
lymphocyte ratio in infectious patients who are hospitalized at RSHS so that this data can be
used as a consideration in selecting future investigations
