CHARACTERISTICS OF DENGUE SEROLOGIC IgM & IgG ANTIBODY IN CHILDREN WITH DENGUE INFECTION IN ATMA JAYA HOSPITAL JAKARTA

Objective: Dengue is an endemic viral disease in Indonesia and has the incidence rate 198.7 for every 100.000 population in Jakarta. Infection has a spectrum from dengue fever (DF) to dengue shock syndrome (DSS). Detection of IgM and IgG antibody may help for the early diagnosis. The purpose of this descriptive study is to determine the features of IgM and IgG serologic antidengue result in infected patients
Method: This research conducted in laboratory of Atma Jaya Hospital, Jakarta and has 149 samples from January 2017 to Mei 2019. This cross sectional study using patient medical records to collect the serology IgM, IgG, patient gender and age.
Result: From 149 sample, 39 of them diagnosed with DSS. The proportion of samples with DF and DHF grade I and II (110 sample), girls are more than boys. Girls of 85 samples (57%) and boys as much as 64 samples (43%). The proportion of age group 0-5 are 15%, 6-10 years are 22%, 11-15 years are 39%, and 15-18 years are 24%. Positive IgM and IgG result is the most common found with 59%, IgM and IgG negative by 41%. From 39 samples with DSS, 59% of them is boys and most of them are 6-10 years of age (40%). 80% of DSS patient has positive IgM and IgG.
Conclusion: The study shows that there is a differentiation between patient diagnose with dengue fever without shock and patient with DSS. The distribution of proportion of gender and age are also diverse.
