BACKGROUND : Duration of study was the most important outcome of the pediatric specialist training program. On- time completion of the training program reflected institution-productivity and eficiency. We conducted a retrospective study to describe the time to completion of the study during the entrance year 2002- 2019 in our institution. A survival analysis was done to measure the median of study completion.
METHODS : A retrospective cohort study from the resident of pediatric training program of the School of Medicine, Udayana University-database for the entrance year 2002 until May 2019, inclusion were regular recruiting system, adaptation programme were excluded. Event was completion of the training. Censor were withdrawal from the training and has not graduate by the end of the research. A trends-plot was figured out for the whole residents and a Kaplan Meier curve was presented with median time for study completion. Statistical analysis was done in Prism 8.0 version
RESULTS : As much as 248 residents were in the entry database betweeen 2002-2019 (11 were in adaptation program, 2 withdrawal ), 235 were eligible for observation, 153 were at risk as the subjects were at or beyond the eight semester, 138 graduated at the end of the research, resemblings 90.02% rate of graduates for subjects at risk. As much as 1.6% completed the study between semester 7 and 8. Median survival for study completion was at 59 months
CONCLUSION : Rate of study completion was high by the end of the research. Median time for study completion was at 59 months. There are minor number of study completion between seventh and eight semester. Reevaluation of academic burden enables more efficient duration of study completion.
