PERCENTAGE OF RISK FACTORS IN CORRELATION TO NEONATAL SEPSIS OCCURRENCE IN CHASBULLAH ABDULMADJID MD BEKASI PUBLIC REGIONAL HOSPITAL

Objective: This study was conducted based on incidence of neonatal sepsis which contributed to the fourth most diagnosed disease in Perinatology Department of Dr.Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Bekasi Hospital in 2017 (6.33%). Sepsis affects mortality in neonates. The authors aim to determine the percentage of risk factors for neonatal sepsis occurrence in order to intervened and reduce mortality of neonatal sepsis.
Method: This research was conducted in Perinatology Department of Dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Bekasi Hospital with 35 neonates in May - June 2019 who had to be observed clinically. This study is a descriptive study.
Result: Based on observations of 35 sepsis infants, it was found that there were 28 infants (80%) diagnosed with early onset sepsis and 7 infants (20%) with late onset sepsis. There were 25 infants (71.4%) born in RSUD and 10 infants (28.6%) were born outside hospital. We found that 20 (57.1%) infants born at a gestational age below 36 weeks, among them most were with gestational age within 32-34 weeks, 8 (22.9%) infants.

Conclusion: This study can be used as a reference in preventing the occurrence of neonatal sepsis in Dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Bekasi hospital. This observation can also be used as basis for further observation.
