RISK OF MAGNITUDE CONSUMPTION SALT IODINE/ NON IODINE OF PREGNANT WOMEN TO THE BODY LENGTH OF THE NEWBORN BABY

BACKGROUND: Disorders of iodine deficiency are one of the very serious nutritional problems, and one of the most common nutritional problems found in Indonesia is stunting. 
OBJECTIVE:The purpose of this study was to look at the magnitude of risk based on Odds Ratio ( OR ) in pregnant women who consumed iodized salt and were not iodized to the body length of newborns.
METHOD: This study is an analitycal survey, data was collected by interview using questionnaires and image visualization for each pregnant mother who will give birth at Lende Moripa Public Hospital during the period February to April 2019. Body length ( BL ) of newborns measured by meter in cm, BL normal if 48 cm. Analysis of risk scale data using OR with SPSS computer programs.
RESULT: The sample size of this study was 69 people, consisting of 48 people using  iodine salt ( 69.6 % ) and 21 people using non – iodine salt ( 30.4% ). Newborns with body length ? 48 cm as many as 67 people ( 97.1 % ), BL newborns < 48 cm as many as 2 people ( 2.9 %). An analysis of the magnitude of the risk of users of non- iodized salt against BL newborn is  ? OR 3.548.
CONCLUSION: One third of the sample of pregnant women in this study still used non-iodine salt. The risk of the body length of a newborn less than normal is 3.5 times in pregnant women who use non iodine salt.
