Objective:
Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in developing countries. In children, the major source of tuberculosis transmission is adults with pulmonary TB who have acid fast bacilli (AFB)-positive sputum. TB often goes undiagnosed in children. Tuberculine test in children with a contact history with patient of pulmonary TB is needed to be done for seeing its effectiveness in the early diagnosis. The aims of this research to identify tuberculine tests among children who have household contact adult tuberculosis with positive acid fast bacilli in Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Hospital Manado.
Methods: A retrospective research was conducted in April 2018 – April 2019 on infant and children (age 1 month to 17 years old), who had household contact with adult pulmonary TB in RSUP Prof.R.D. Kandou Hospital. We performed Tuberculine test to detect Tuberculosis infection in infant and children.

Results: From 87 infant and children who had household contact with adult pulmonary TB and did the tuberculin test, 45 children with positive tuberculine test consist 21 girls and 24 boys. From 45 children with positive tuberculine test, 8 children with severe malnutrition (OR 2.727 CI 0.856- 8.685) and 17 children with moderate malnutrion (OR 2.032 CI 0.759-5.439) compared 20 children with good nutrition. Positive tuberculine test results was more commonly found in children less than 5 years (OR 1.231 CI 0.496-3.056) than children older than 5 years.
Conclusion: There is an association between adult TB contact with Tuberculine test in children. Household contact with adult TB patients is a risk factor for tuberculosis infection in infants and children.
