OBJECTIVE : This study was aimed to know the performance of pediatric subspecialist residents in compliance of quality and safety in Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital.
METHOD : This study describes the evaluation during their training in January to March 2019 in Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital. The subjects were pediatric subspecialist residents of Child Health Department, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia in Jakarta. The evaluation were done by supervisors (pediatric consultants) by filling the evaluation form for every residents. The 8 evaluation items based on JCI standards; 3 major items were how to correctly identify the patients, 5 moment of hand washing and practice of 6 steps hand washing. The other 5 optional items were various depending on the subspecialist program. The score for every item was zero to ten (perfect score).
RESULTS : There were 36 residents had been evaluated. Overall mean score was 9.1 (lowest 8.2 and highest 10.0). The mean scores for 3 major items : indentification, 5 moments and 6 steps of hand hygiene were 9.3, 9.4 and 9.5 respectively. Even the major scores were high, the feedback from supervisors stated that there were some items needed to be improved such as medical record, pain management, drug form and care plan.
CONCLUSION : Study showed that the compliance of pediatric subspecialist residents of quality and patient safety in Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital was good. The evaluation of residents’ compliance have to be done regularly to maintain the quality of health service in teaching hospital.
