RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEARING LOSS WITH CYTOMEGALOVIRUS CONGENITAL INFECTION BORN VIGOROUS AND NON VIGOROUS

Background : Congenital Cytomegalovirus infection (CCMV) causes sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), vision loss, and developmental delay. CCMV infection is 85% - 90% asymptomatic at birth. Early hearing loss identification and appropriate interventions at 6 months of age have been shown to prevent these consequences. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of hearing loss in CCMV infection born vigorous and non vigorous.
Material : It was a cohort retrospective study the data taken from medical record in dr.Kariadi Hospital from September 2017 until January 2018 , with inclusion criteria were 6 month of age with CCMV born vigorous with criteria strong respiratory efforts, good muscle tone, gestational age between 37- 40 weeks, while non vigorous were depressed respiration and mucle tones ,gestational age under 37 weeks. Hearing loss is determined from otoacoustic emission and brainstem evoked response audiometry test which was performed in medical record. We used Chi-square to analyse the results.
Results : There were 52 patients were participate. Forty one patients were found in 30 (73.2%) hearing loss and 11 (63.6%) were normally . Among 11 children born non vigorous, children had hearing loss (RR 1.1, 95% CI 0.709-1.865, p 0.392).
Conclusions : Hearing loss is often found in CCMV were 73,2% patient,but there is no significant different between hearing loss which born vigorous and non vigorous.
