HEMATOLOGY PROFILE OF SURGERY PATIENT IN NICU AT PROF DR R D KANDOU HOSPITAL MANADO

Background : Neonatal acute surgical conditions significantly contribute to high morbidity and mortality among neonates. Monitoring of laboratory results is very important in postoperative patients. The aim of the study is to describe laboratory result pattern and outcome of patients with surgical conditions in NICU at Prof. dr. R.D. Kandou Hospital Manado from 2013-2017.
Material : A retrospective review of medical records of surgical neonates who were admitted and treated at Prof. dr. R.D. Kandou Hospital Manado between 2013 until 2017.
Results : We got 60 surgical cases, the majority of cases were atresia ani (25% of all cases), There were 34 (56%) males and 26 (44%) females, Babies need for oxygenation support were 42 (70%) babies, which is 22 babies with nasal oxygenation, and 20 babies with ventilator, Mean value of laboratory result is hemoglobin level 15,2g/dl (±3,4); hematocrit level 44,3% (±10,4), leucocyte level 14.211/mm3 (±8.316); platelet level 213.000/mm3 (±196.380); albumin 2,76 g/dl (±0.58) and length of stay 12.9 days (±11.5), 75% of cases was referral case. 50% of case were dead.
Conclusions : Mean value of laboratory result is hemoglobin level 15,2g/dl (±3,4); hematocrit level 44,3% (±10,4), leucocyte level 14.211/mm3 (±8.316); and thrombocyte level 213.000/mm3 (±196.380); albumin level 2,76 g/dl (±0,58).
