Background : Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is the most commom kidney disorder in children. Based on therapy respone, NS consist of steroid sensitif nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) and steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS). Nearly 50% of the children with steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) have a frequently relapsing (FR) or steroid dependent (SD) course, experiencing steroid toxicities. The study aimed to examine the outcome in children with SSNS Material : A retrospective analysis, in children aged 6 month-18 years, with diagnose SNSS, at pediatric nephrology clinic of Prof Dr.R.D Kandou Manado hospital. Data medical records from january 2013 to desember 2017, include identity and proteinuria levels (?+2), and consist of group FR and SD Results : Sample (n=123) children with SSNS. 62 children include inclusi criteria. There are 36(58%) children experience FRNS, and 26(42%) children experience SDNS. The median age of onset was 36 months. The median time to the first relapse was 3 months in FRgroup, and 14 day in SD group. There are 9(25%) children with FR and 6(23%) with SD experiences SRNS. Multivariatelogistic regression analysis showed a treatment (?12weeks) of the first episode (odds ratio 0.56, 95% CI=0.34–0.91; p value=0.02) and shorter median time to the first relapse (odds ratio 1.04, 95% CI=1.01–1.08; p value=0.04) to be independent predictors of FR/SD course Conclusions : Treatment in the first episode and shorter median time in steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome is a predictor of frequent relaps nephrotic syndrome or steroid dependent nephrotic syndrome
Keywords: nephrotic syndrome steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome frequent relaps dependent steroid
