LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF ACUTE POST STREPTOCOCCAL GLOMERULONEPHRITIS AT PEDIATRIC WARD OF PROF DR RD KANDOU HOSPITAL

Background : Acute post streptococcal glomerulonephritis (APSGN) is the most common type of in-patient glomerulonephritis (GN) in childhood. Acute glomerulonephritis (AGN) is marked by acute onset of edema, hematuria, and hypertension, which is usually associated with oliguria and azotemia.
Material : We conducted retrospective study and collect data from medical records in pediatric ward of Prof. dr. R.D. Kandou hospital Manado with diagnose APSGN, with 5 years of range time, analysed the laboratory results.
Results : From the result of complete blood test, 40 children (78%) with normal Hb levels, 36 children (70%) leukocyte increased, 37 children (72%) above normal, 41 children (80%) ASTO> 200IU, 6 children (11%) CRP increased, 27 children (52%) C3 decreased, 32 children (62%) increased creatinine urea. 9 children (19%) Potassium under normal, 4 children (9.8%) Potassium more than normal, 18 children (37%). serum sodium below normal. Microscopic eritocytes are positive in 100% of children, macroscopic 42% of children.
Conclusions : Microscopic haematuria is a sign found in all GNA sufferers, followed by increased ASTO, increased ESR, increased leukocyte, and increased creatinine urea.
