CHARACTERISTIC OF PNEUMONIA PEDIATRIC PATIENTS IN MOEWARDI HOSPITAL

Background : Pneumonia is a lung infection which able caused by bacteria, virus, or fungi, leading to respiratory failure. Pneumonia one contributor to the mortality rate of children Dr. Moewardi Hospital.
Material : A descriptive analytical study was conducted in Dr.Moewardi Hospital inpatients diagnosed with Pneumonia. Data were taken from medical record of patients between January and December 2017.
Results : There were 93 cases of Pneumonia in Moewardi hospital from January to December 2017. The study subjects comprised of male 51 patient (54%), and 42 female patient (46%). Pneumonia most common affected patients age 0 month-12 month are 40 patient (43%), followed by 1- 5 year are 39 patient (39%), and over 5 years are 16 patient (18%). Thirty five children were wellnourished (38%), three children (3%) were marasmic malnutrition, and 55 children were undernourished. All of the subjects had clinical symptoms of fever, cough and breathlessness (100%).
Conclusions : In dr Moewardi Hospital most children aged one year and below were mostly affected by Pneumonia. Undernourish increases risk factor of pneumonia.
