Worldwide, the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance has become a major threat that continues to rapidly accelerate.Antimicrobial resistance to the drugs of last resort for life-threatening infections are more commonly being seen.This is having a major impact on our ability to effectively treat these infections,resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. The development of strategies to prevent and decrease the amount of antimicrobial resistance, including the use of various vaccines, are critical in controlling the amount of resistance that is currently being seen. The plenary talk will discuss these current strategies, how they have been implemented in different contexts, and lessons learned for clinical practice.
