Indonesia moves forward with "one health approach" to combat Emerging Infectious Diseases

One Health' is an approach to designing and implementing program, policies, legislation, and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes. The goals of ‘One Health’ approach are seeks to promote, improve, and defend the health and well-being of all species The concept is a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment. By enhancing cooperation, collaboration, promoting strengths in leadership, and management between physicians, veterinarians, other scientific health, and environmental professionals to achieve the goals.‘A One Health’ approach is particularly relevant include food safety, the control of zoonosis (example flu, rabies), combatting antibiotic resistance, prevent & control Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs).Many of the same microbes infect animals and humans, as they share the eco-systems they live in. World Health Organization works closely with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) to promote multi-sector responses to food safety hazards, risks from zoonosis, and other public health threats at the human-animal-ecosystem interface and provide guidance on how to reduce these risks. Indonesian experienced in detecting, investigating, and respond to EIDs and reduce the risk of disease spread to the public by “One Health” approach.
