Background : In consideration of the incidence rate, survival rate, growth delay rate of the preterm infants are higher than before at present, the preterm infants' growth situation after discharge are paid more and more attention. What's more, timely and proper nutrition is the precondition of the catch-up growth of the preterm infants. Caregivers' feeding health belief may cause certain influences on the feeding behavior, which affects the catch-up growth. This research is mainly to investigate and analyze the post-discharge feeding health belief of the preterm infants' caregivers.
Material : The sample consisted of 309 preterm infants and their caregivers drawn from five women and children's hospitals in Chengdu of China, from June to August in 2017. Self-designed questionnaires based on KAB (Knowledge Attitude and Practice) and HBM (Health Belief Model) were used to measure the post-discharge feeding health belief of the preterm infants' caregivers. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the influencing factors of the caregivers' health belief.
Results : The average score of caregivers' feeding health belief was 111.11 ±12.53. The score of dimensions from high to low were personal health beliefs, the ability to control, the health belief of the ability to use the resources, the ability to implement, and the cognitive threat. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that parity, education level and knowledge had statistically significant influence on caregivers' health belief.
Conclusions : The caregivers' health belief about the preterm infants' feeding was good as a whole. In feeding process of preterm infants after discharge, we should pay more attention to the first preterm infant of the caregivers with the lower education level.
