Background : Most of lupus patient has risk factor of developing vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency may be related to Lupus disease activity and contributes to the morbidity and mortality of multiple systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complication. Vitamin D deficiency were associated with higher disease activity in SLE patients and might decrease patient’s quality of life. The aim of this study was to assess the association of vitamin D level and pediatric quality of life in SLE patients.
Material : A cross sectional design was used involving 62 SLE patients in Department of Child Health RSUP Dr Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta, between November 2017 and April 2018. Serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D concentration was measured to detect Vitamin D level, and (Pediatric Quality of Life) PedsQL score was used to determine the quality of life. Spearman Rank was used to determine the correlation of serum vitamin D level and quality of life
Results : There were 62 SLE patients enrolled in this study, 54 subjects (93,5%) was female, 4 (6,5%) was male and median age at diagnosis was 13 years old. Vitamin D deficiency were detected in 22 (35.5%) subjects, and 53 (85.5%) subjects had good quality of life (PedsQL > 70%). Fisher’s exact analysis of vitamin D deficiency relationship with PedsQL score showed p value = 0.162 (p <0.05)
Conclusions : There was no significant assosciation between vitamin D levels and PedsQL score on SLE patient.
