Background : With the increasing coverage of antiretroviral drugs, HIV-infected children who are treated can live up to older age. Studies showed successful treatment required high level of adherence. Disclosure is an important factor known affecting adherence to antiretroviral therapy that has been extensively studied in high-burden countries. This research aimed to assess the association between disclosure and adherence among HIV-infected children in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia. Material : This research was a cross-sectional study with 101 HIV-infected children as subjects using questionnaire to determine the disclosure status and adherence. Results : Most subjects were female (50.5%) with median age of 10 (7-16) years old. Most of them were in the first line antiretroviral therapy (66.3%) and have not been disclosed (71.3%). Most of the children had moderate adherence (50.5%), followed by high level of adherence (39.6%), and low adherence (9.9%). Statistical analysis showed no association between disclosure status and adherence among HIV-infected children in this study (p 0.367). Conclusions : In this study, we did not find an association between disclosure status and adherence. Most children in this study had suboptimal adherence, which should bring attention for medical staffs involved in managing these children. It needs further evaluation so that adherence among these children could be optimal.
