HEMATOLOGICAL FINDINGS IN PEDIATRIC SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS PATIENTS IN RS DR MOEWARDI SURAKARTA AT FIRST ADMISSION

Background : Hematological finding is one of the criteria used to diagnose Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) in children. Hemolytic anemia, leucopenia, and thrombocytopenia are clinical criteria which must be analyzed in Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics. Hematological findings should be carefully assessed in order to minimalize disease related morbidity.
Material : This cohort retrospective study was conducted by using the medical records of patients diagnosed with SLE at first admission to Dr. Moewardi hospital, Surakarta. The data were taken from October 2014 to April 2018.
Results : Of the 16 patients who were diagnosed with SLE at first admission, 3 patients (18,75%) came with normal hematological values, 6 patients (37,5%) with anemia, 5 patients (31,25%) with bicytopenia and 2 patients (12,5%) with pancytopenia. Twelve out of sixteen patients are teenagers.
Conclusions : Hematologic abnormality finding is common with high percentage at first admission in pediatric SLE Patients. We have to be aware of hematological abnormality in teenage population as this may be sign of SLE.
