CHILDREN WITH GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL PROBLEMS A THREE-YEARs OBSERVATION FROM GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT CLINIC IN CIPTO MANGUNKUSUMO HOSPITAL

Background : Growth and developmental problems in children were thought to be common in developing countries. However, the magnitude and clinical characteristics of these problems are largely unknown. Therefore, this study was aimed to measure number of outpatient visits and clinical profile of patients who present at Growth and Development Clinic Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital over a three years period (2015-2017).
Material : Data were collected retrospectively from work up files of all subjects assessed in Growth and Development Clinic Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital during the mentioned period. Trend was evaluated.
Results : There were 5505 children assessed in Growth and Development Clinic from January 2015 to Desember 2017. Year 2017 had the highest number of outpatient visits (n=2361) followed by year 2015 (n=1638) and year 2016 (n=1506). There was a trend toward increasing number of visits. The most common diagnoses in 2015 were incomplete immunization (74.7%), high-risk baby (49%), speech delay (23%), global developmental delay (22%) and delayed motoric development (16,7%). In 2016, incomplete immunization (69%) still the most common diagnoses followed by high-risk baby (61%), microcephaly (14%), global developmental delay (11.8%) and speech delay (9.8%). In 2017, the most common diagnoses were incomplete immunization (82%), high-risk baby (59.9%), speech delay (19%), microcephaly (16.5%), global developmental delay (16%), delayed motor development (11%).
Conclusions : The trend showed an increase of outpatient visits during 2015-17. The five most common diagnosis were incomplete immunization, high-risk baby, speech delay, global developmental delay, microcephaly; which were appropriate for growth and development clinic.
