SEROLOGIC SURVEY OF YAWS ON 1-5 YEARS OLD CHILDREN AT WEELURI PRIMARY HEALTH CARE WORKING AREA, EAST NUSA TENGGARA

Background : Yaws is one of the neglected tropical diseases at the global level, which is still a health problem in Indonesia. The prevalence of yaws diseases in Indonesia based on data from the Ministry of Health in 2015 was 3903 cases. Central Sumba regency is one of the regencies in East Nusa Tenggara that is still an endemic region. By 2016, there are 157 clinically and RDT confirmed cases. In the regulation of the minister of health number 8 of 2017, Indonesia is targeted to be free of yaws in 2019 and obtain eradication certificate by 2020 Material : Yaws serology survey is one of the methods to see if there is a new yaws infection spread Results : It was a cross-sectional study of 200 children aged 1-5 years old. A 20 µl of whole blood sample was taken with lancet on patients finger. We did Rapid Diagnostic Test with the rapid test anti-TP (Treponema pallidum). The result was none of them was positive Conclusions : There is no sign of new infection spread in Weeluri Primary Health Care working area. However, according to the Indonesian health ministry, this test result must be negative in 3 consecutive years in order to state that this area is free from new infection spread.
